Joy Tribble, Planner/Evaluator (aka “The BEAM Whisperer”) of the DVRS PPPE section had a very exciting day today as she was able to share her employment story with Governor Cooper and a small audience of advocacy and workforce development leaders, supporters, activists, government officials and the press. Her speech was one success highlighted as a component of the signing of the long overdue North Carolina response to the Employment First national initiative. This initiative, now NC law today by executive order, emphasizes the importance of hiring individuals with disabilities within the competitive integrated NC workforce and calls for the State Government of North Carolina as a key employer to demonstrate through proactive recruitment and integration of individuals with disabilities within its own workforce.
The photo below shows Joy receiving the pen that Governor Cooper used to sign the executive order. More to come about the executive order, but the immediate objective is to let you know that one of our own was honored in a great way today! Congratulations, Joy!! Phil
