On September 30, 2022 President Biden took a huge step forward to recognize individuals with disabilities with a full proclamation to focus on National Disability Awareness Month and the importance of celebrating the contributions of these individuals to our employers and economy. Additionally, disability is part of the current term "Disability, Equality, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEI&A). This a a great step forward for our communities across the country and demonstrates great support of VR's mission and continued efforts around Employment First. To mark the third anniversary of Executive Order 92: Employment First for North Carolinians with Disabilities, the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) collaborated with state agencies to produce a series of videos and messages featuring state employees with disabilities, as well as those who support them. This includes Governor Roy Cooper, who has stepped up efforts to ensure that state workplaces are welcoming and inclusive of people with disabilities. You can see the videos here.
